Being Personal in Blogs
Today, I am going to discuss being personal in blogs and specificly my blog. Now, every business is different, which I know is a generic answer, but some businesses can't really get personal. In my business, I am doing game reviews and game teaching, so in some cases it is good to show passion and some cases its not.
For my blog, When I am doing training for a game, it is very important to show some personality and show that you care. People want to know you care about the games your playing and you should show it. Alternatively, I also do game reviews and in my game reviews I try not to show my personality or bias, as much as I can. The person watching wants a factual review of the game. As I was saying earlier, it really depends on your business and what your trying to portray. If your representing your business and they don't have any specific stands, you do not want to put your own personality to represent it, that could portray your company in a bad light.

Great insights! When reviewing games and other works, it can boost your credibility to show you are unbiased and objective in your evaluations. Showing too much sentiment can make you appear biased and people who are looking for more informative and objective reviews may go elsewhere. I agree that every business is different, so foresight is needed. You also outlined the needs of your audience well.
ReplyDeleteYou make an interesting point below in your quote in regards to staying biased during blogs and reviews and here is your quote:
ReplyDelete"Alternatively, I also do game reviews and in my game reviews I try not to show my personality or bias, as much as I can. "
A lot of people don't understand that showing emotion and getting personnel at times actually means you are being biased because fighting off an ethical opinion in your brain that you want to say is a sin and it is weak-ness.
Getting personnel on blogs all depends on what type of business that you are running as you know.
There is a difference between "being personal" and "having personality" in ones writings / blog postings. I think you have a great personality and comes out that you feel strongly about the validity of gaming as a pastime yet I don't know if you're leaping over the unicorn or doing the McGyver or planning a major fire-strike. If it is a mix or combination of those things then you are going to have different opinions come out in your writings on the different topics depending on who you are writing for and your own personal experiences with each varied arena.
ReplyDeleteHaving personality show in your blog for what you're doing in particular, would be really important to me. I would want to know if you are the type of person that I can relate to and would enjoy the same games as. Creating that connection builds trust in your reviews and would ultimatley help me make a decision about whether or not a game is worth buying.
ReplyDeleteThe honest way to treat people is to be aware of how much is enough. Like with the buying of used clothing a person that has no idea about price comparison is not wanting your opinion on the local teens resale shop. Then a women that has been married all her adult life will not want hear about the singles group that changed your life. Anything that is personal will need the thought of respect and good intentions for a good result.
